RX Medication Take-Back Day – Tahoe City and Truckee, CA

RX Medication Take-Back Day – Tahoe City and Truckee, CA On Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. you’ll have the opportunity to drop off unused, unwanted, and/or expired medications at two locations in the Tahoe- Truckee area.  The RX Medication Take-Back Day in Tahoe City and Truckee, CA is a great way to properly dispose of medications.

Most people think that by tossing old, or unwanted medications down the toilet, or in the trash they using the most effective way to get rid of these items and protect their household.

The problem with these methods is they can damage the environment.  Water treatment removes and reduces some types of pharmaceuticals, but it is not a complete removal, and low levels of medications can still be in the water.

Treated water is often used for irrigation and wildlife animals drink this water.  The best thing everyone can do to reduce environmental medication pollution is to take their old, unwanted, and unused medications to one of the take-back locations and have them dispose of it properly.

Sandy Beach, Tahoe Vista, California

Sandy Beach, Tahoe Vista, California

Sandy Beach, Tahoe Vista, California If you’re looking for a nice sandy beach that is away from it all, check out Sandy Beach, in Tahoe Vista, California.

Sandy Beach is a public beach, located on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe in Tahoe Vista, California.  The setting here is wonderful and the sandy is like powder.  It feels like you could be at the ocean.  The water is shallow making it easy to wade in, and because it’s shallow, the water tends to be warmer here.

If you’re not looking for Sandy Beach you may miss this one.  There isn’t a lot of signage on Highway 28 (North Lake Blvd.), and when you drive by, it just looks like a vacant, wooded lot from the street.  You’ll find Sandy Beach located directly across from the Spindleshanks restaurant, which is at 6873 North Lake Blvd. in the commercial core of Tahoe Vista.

Sandy Beach has a couple of picnic tables, a temporary bathroom, but is not a dog friendly beach area.  Those with a four-legged friend will have to go to the Carnelian Bay public beaches, the Bristlecone Street dog beach area, or Hurricane Bay on the West Shore.

Want to see what the Sandy Beach area looks like? Check out this video on it.

If you’re looking for an out of the way beach in North Lake Tahoe, check out Sandy Beach in Tahoe Vista the next time you’re up here.
